History

Øhavets Smakkecenter holds a collection of various boat types from the South Fyn area. The exhibition was established in 1993 out of the initiative of a group of local enthusiasts who believed that Strynø needed a exhibition to communicate and promote the very special natural and cultural history of the South Fyn Archipelago. The group consisted of archaeologists, museum staff, sailors, etc. who in collaboration with the Museum of Langeland established a very fine exhibition.

The exhibition has gone through minor alterations over the years but in 2006 the center got through a major rebuild and extension.
