History
Strynø Boatyard was originally built as a boat yard in Helsingør in 1910. Here it functioned as boat yard until 1942 when it was sold to Carl Andreas Banke who had the building shipped to Fjellebroen on South Fyn. The transport took place on the schooner Adele, who later on suffered torpedo-death during 2nd World War. Boat builder Banke ran the boat yard until he emigrated to Canada in 1952. The boat yard was carried on by Oluf Andersen who ran it until he died in 1999.
In the year 2000 the building was once again deconstructed and transported to Strynø where it became a boat yard for the 3rd time.
As a curiosity it must be mentioned that boat builder Banke’s three sons, whom today are 60 years old and live in Canada, visited their father’s boat yard in April 2006. They were all very moved to once again see their father’s boat yard where they used to play during their childhood before they emigrated to Canada.
